“Dzimtais dārzs” is a family business run by Ilze and Kaspars Zandbergi.

What products does the company make?

The company makes the finest products sourced from an ecologically clean environment, carefully gathered and skillfully processed in keeping with ancestral recipes and traditions—fireweed tea, various syrups, cedar nut products and other wholesome products. At the company, we promote a healthy lifestyle, high-quality food, the idea of creating a family homestead, and the benefits it offers each of us.

Location

Our production facility is located in Vecumnieki Municipality. The company has two stores: at Brīvības iela 185 in Riga and Jomas iela 57a in Jūrmala. The company exports its products to Italy, Sweden, Germany, Lithuania and Estonia.

What led you to reflect on these values?

As I have already said, I try to do only what I enjoy. Fireweed tea is a product that first captivated me with its unique properties. Second, it brings contact with nature, contact with plants. Even when I enter the shop and approach the shelf, I can feel this energy from the teas. Fireweed has led me to the way my life has taken shape today.

What do you want to convey through your company’s products?

The most interesting thing is essentially the way of life. I am trying to create this way of life for myself. We should consider how people lived in harmony with nature millions of years ago. The way we live now has developed only over the past ten thousand years. I have drawn much inspiration from the book “Anastasia”. The book’s central idea is the creation of a family homestead. In that homestead, each family creates a Field of Love in which they live.

People are familiar with traditional teas, such as linden blossom tea. How do you promote fireweed tea?

When I started producing this tea, only one in three or four people even knew that such a tea existed, so we work hard to promote it. Today, one in four people does not know about it. The tea is now returning to everyday life and is being sold more and more.

How does your tea differ from others?

Essentially, all producers choose the latest technologies manufactured in China. This new equipment is mostly made of iron, but iron has strong energy. When it comes into contact with iron, the tea loses at least 50% of its energy and immediately tastes completely different. In our production process, we use only wood and glass, which do not alter this energy and preserve all of its properties. These are the same technologies that were used long ago.

What is the biggest mistake you have learned from in business?

Essentially, our customers teach us. That is why it is difficult to make mistakes. If we make something incorrectly, customers tell us what is wrong and we correct it. We cannot afford mistakes because we are always listening to our customers.
